PP BIG BAGS (FIBCs)

Big Bags, also known as FIBCs or Bulk Bag, are flexible intermediate polymer containers that are durable bulk bags with a carrying capacity of 200 to 3,000 kg.

Bulk containers are made of polypropylene fabric – that is, a polymeric material that has great strength and is resistant to breaking loads.

Such containers are used for transportation and temporary storage of various loose, granulated, fine-fraction and piece materials. Loop straps of such containers allow rigging with the help of cranes, loaders and other lifting equipment.

THE MAIN APPLICATION AREA OF BULK BAGS

  • chemical industry (chemical products, industrial chemicals)
  • agriculture (fertilisers, seeds, press cake, animal feed)
  • food industry (cereals, sugar, salt, flour)
  • construction (cement, gypsum, mixtures, waste)
  • metallurgy (slag, metals, alloy components)
  • mining (coal, crushed stone, sand)
  • etc

VARIETIES OF BIG BAGS

BY THE NUMBER OF LIFTING LOOPS

BY THE TOP AND BOTTOM DESIGNS

Top of the container:
  • open top
  • top skirt (duffle)
  • filling spout
  • filling spout and safety valve
  • top flap
Bottom of the container:
  • flat bottom
  • flat ‘star-shaped’ bottom (at an angle of 45°)
  • discharge spout
  • discharge spout with safety valve
  • discharge spout with safety valve and flap

More details about the available designs and elements of containers can be found on the page of the Big Bag designer.

BY THE SAFETY FACTOR (SF):

  • Safety factor SF 5:1
  • Safety factor SF 6:1
  • Safety factor SF 8:1

The safety factor characterises the margin of safety of a bulk container.
When a single-use container is tested with an SF of 5:1, it must be able to withstand a load of at least five times its working load capacity.
Big Bags with 6:1 and 8:1 safety factors can be reused and must withstand a load exceeding their workload by at least six and eight times, respectively.

CHOOSING THE OPTIMAL BIG BAG

When choosing a Big Bag model, it is recommended to pay attention to the following factors:

  • type of products
  • bulk weight of products, t/m3
  • available equipment for packing in bulk bag
  • transportation method (selection of dimensions for efficient loading into vehicles)
  • number of transhipments during transportation
  • available equipment for transhipment of loaded products.

ADVANTAGES OF BIG BAGS

Flexible bulk container are the optimal packaging for large-capacity bulk cargoes. They replace plywood drums, barrels and traditional bags and can be delivered by all modes of transport.

  • They have high strength and allow repeated use.
  • Container materials are environmentally friendly.
  • They save storage space thanks to the possibility of stacking.
  • They are available in various sizes and designs.
  • They ensure the safety of products during storage and transportation.
  • They allow full mechanisation of the packaging process as well as loading and unloading operations.
  • They allow temporary storage of goods in open areas.
  • They enable transporting goods using open rolling stock, which reduces downtime.
  • They minimise the cost of disposal of non-returnable containers.
  • They reduce the cost of transportation due to their own low weight (0.2–0.3% of the cargo weight).
  • They can meet individual requirements for their characteristics and purposes (food, technical etc).
  • They can have polyethylene liners to seal and protect products from environmental factors.

STRICT QUALITY STANDARDS FOR BIG BAG PRODUCTION

For the production of FIBCs, only the highest grade raw materials and equipment from leading manufacturers are used:

  • Starlinger (Austria): extrusion line and weaving machines
  • Polytek (Turkey): polypropylene fabric cutting line
  • Botheven (Taiwan): flexographic machine for printing images on the container shell
  • Union Special (Germany): sewing machines
  • Reifenhauser (Germany): extruder for 3-layer PE film for liners
  • Gunter (Germany): cutting machine for PE liners.

All Big Bags undergo strict quality control. The following checks take place at each stage of production:

  • appearance: checking for damage and confirming the integrity of stitches
  • verification of raw materials’ conformity to standards
  • size check.

Control and measuring laboratory and test benches allow us to conduct all necessary tests:

  • verification of physical and mechanical parameters of raw materials
  • checking the safety factor of ready-made Big Bags
  • testing the resistance of materials to ultraviolet rays.

By default, bulk containers are made of light-stabilised white fabric with a surface density of 120 to 200 g/m². But you can order Big Bags made of coloured fabric or add transparent stripes to the fabric.

The containers can be colour-printed with your logo, name, product details and any other information. Images are applied using flexography with up to 4 colours.

ORDERING BIG BAGS (FIBCs)

Big Bags can be manufactured to your required dimensions, specifications and design elements.
We are ready to discuss individual terms of collaboration with each customer and provide product samples for testing.
To order containers, you can call by phone or send a request by email:

To submit a request for containers from the website, you can fill in the form below or its extended version on the Big Bag Designer page.
After receiving the request, our managers will contact you to answer all your questions, give expert advice and discuss the details of your order.

You can attach your drawing and statement of work for the manufacture of flexible bulk containers to your letter.
