Polypropylene block bottom bags AD*STAR®

Polypropylene block bottom bags are manufactured using the technologies and equipment of Starlinger (Austria), the world’s leading provider of specialised solutions.
For 50 years the company has been developing cutting-edge solutions for polymer processing and industrial packaging production.
One of Starlinger’s most famous inventions is the AD*STAR® block bottom valve bags, which combine the advantages of paper and polymer bags.
Only the highest-quality raw materials and components are used in the production of the bags, so the products meet all the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union TR CU 005/2011 On Packaging Safety.

Application of block bottom PP bags

Due to their increased strength and convenient shape, AD*STAR® valve block bottom bags are used for packaging, storing and transporting various bulk materials and products. Most often they are filled with cement, chalk, fertilisers, dry construction mixtures, food, animal feed etc.
Unlike paper bags, polypropylene ones have a lower weight, withstand a larger bulk weight and are protected from moisture.
Valve PP bags are well suited for automatic filling lines.
After filling block bottom bags take a rectangular shape, making them convenient to palletise, store and transport.

Design of block bottom polypropylene bags

We produce the following types of bags:

  • valve block bottom bags
  • open-neck block bottom bags

All bags are made of laminated PP fabric only.

AD*STAR® valve bags with perforation are used for bulk goods such as cement, chalk and the like. Micro-vents in the bag fabric ensure gas permeability and allow air to freely leave the bag when loading the material.
There are two types of perforation:

  1. microperforation
  2. nanoperforation.

The nanoperforation technology is more advanced and allows significant increase in the volume of outgoing air while maintaining the same bag strength, which reduces the loading time.
Open-neck bags can be supplied with a PE liner.
The liner reliably protects the loaded products from moisture, dust, foreign odours and spillage. Liners can be made of both HDPE and LDPE.

The standard colour of the bag fabric is white. Bags can be produced from dyed fabric and with a transparent strip for visual control of the contents.

Cutting-edge printing technologies

Bags with a company logo or product image are an effective advertising medium and attract the attention of consumers. We use the most advanced equipment allowing printing inscriptions and images on block bottom bags in various ways:

Flexographic print (up to 6 colours)

It produces neat and elegant packaging simply.
This method is suitable for both mass production and small batches when there are no special requirements for the number of colours and gradients.
If only text or a simple image needs to be printed on the bags, this type of printing is the best choice.

Full-colour flexographic printing

It is suitable for the manufacture of bright and attractive packaging to stand out from the competition.
This method provides almost photorealistic quality of printed images on the surface of the bag. Thanks to smooth gradients and high resolution, most shades of colours will be clearly visible.
This printing method is especially well suited for PP bags with glossy lamination.
This type of printing essentially replaces deep rotogravure printing.

Advantages of AD*STAR® block bottom bags

  • highly durable, resistant to impact and rough handling
  • moisture resistance due to lamination
  • flexographic and photo printable
  • convenient form for transportation and compact storage
  • very low weight of an empty bag
  • glueless patented bag welding technology
  • no harm to the environment and easy disposal
